In *Ping Pong the Animation*, Yutaka Hoshino (Peco), after suffering a setback, goes alone to a wide pier extending into the sea. The setting sun dyes the sky orange-red as he sits on the steps at the end of the pier, facing the glittering water, reflecting on his defeat in the match. Silhouettes of harbor cranes and cargo ships can be seen in the distance.
