The platform of missed trains
In *5 Centimeters per Second*, during the final chapter, Takaki Toono stands on a platform of a local railway station, waiting for an uncertain train. The winter wind blows through the snow-covered tracks; the platform is deserted except for his lonely figure. As the train approaches, he murmurs Akari's name, but they ultimately pass each other by in the crossing of trains.
