Platform Farewell
In *5 Centimeters per Second*, on the platform of a rural station bathed in evening glow, Takaki and Akari stand side by side for their first and last conversation, reluctant to part as the train doors are about to close. As the train departs, Akari waves from the platform while Takaki watches from inside the carriage; moments later, she is obscured by another passing train, and they are separated forever.
