In the third chapter of *5 Centimeters per Second*, Akari Shinohara, living alone on a southern island, often gazes at the gigantic rocket launch pad in the distance after school. It is a white tower-like structure standing by the sea, surrounded by vast grasslands and the blue Pacific Ocean. The film features several awe-inspiring rocket launches, especially at the end, where the girl watches from a platform as the rocket streaks across the sky.
