In *5 Centimeters per Second*, during the ending theme, the camera pans over a residential street corner: a gray cylindrical gas meter stands next to a red rectangular mailbox, both mounted on a light-colored wall. A cherry blossom branch reaches over the wall, petals falling in the wind. The protagonist once passed by his beloved here, and this spot remains a fragment of their shared memories.
