In Yowamushi Pedal, during the first day of the Inter High race, teams including Sohoku High and Hakone Academy pass along a coastal slope. The protagonist, Onoda Sakamichi, pedals hard with sweat dripping, while beside him are the sparkling sea and green hillsides. The road has white guardrails and neatly spaced utility poles. The slope is not steep but continuous, causing the cyclists to breathe heavily, and the sound of chains turning can be heard.
