Meeting Pavilion
In *The Garden of Words*, the wooden pavilion where the protagonists first meet and repeatedly spend time is located here. It is a classic Japanese gazebo with upturned roof angles, nestled by a pond within a meticulously maintained Japanese garden. The scene is often accompanied by drizzle, with raindrops cascading from the eaves. Here, Yukari Yukino enjoys beer and chocolate while Takao Akizuki sketches shoes. On the bench inside, they exchange the famous tanka: “A distant rumble of thunder, the sky is overcast—but if only the rain would come, perhaps I could keep you here.”
