In *Tamako Market*, the Japanese confectionery shop run by Tamako's family is located on a lively shopping street. The store is a traditional wooden building with an indigo noren curtain hanging at the entrance, printed with the shop's name. Glass display cases show various delicate wagashi. Every morning, Tamako helps her father prepare for opening, and neighborhood residents often line up to buy freshly made bean cakes. At the end of the shopping street, a small hill can be seen, and the green mailbox on the corner and the red public phone beside the shop are also iconic elements.
