Sumiyoshi Bridge
In *In This Corner of the World*, the protagonist Suzu often crosses this red-painted bridge over the river while carrying a backpack. The bridge has a vermilion steel frame with metal railings, flanked by low houses and greenery on both banks. Suzu frequently pauses here to gaze at the river or encounter family members. After marrying into the Hojo family, this bridge becomes a symbol of her daily life as she travels between her parental home and her married home.
