Overlooking the port
In *In This Corner of the World*, the protagonist Suzu and her family climb this mountain multiple times. On a clear day, Suzu, her husband Shusaku, and her niece Harumi hike up; they have a picnic on the slope near the top, looking down at the navy port and factories below. Suzu also sits here alone to sketch the harbor views. The stone steps before the summit are lined with grass, and there is a bench halfway for resting.
