In *A Certain Scientific Railgun S*, at the beginning of the first episode on a sunny day, a girl in the uniform of Tokiwadai Middle School stands near a central fountain in a city plaza. She notices a thief snatch a woman's bag and easily knocks him down using her electric power. The plaza has light-colored paving, a circular fountain in the center, and is surrounded by shopping center buildings and steps, with pedestrians coming and go. This plaza is part of Academy City.
