Encounter at the temple
In *Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan*, the story begins on the stone steps of an old temple. On her way to school, protagonist Koshitan passes a temple with a large gate and stone lion statues, where she first meets the strange girl with deer antlers—Shikanoko. The morning sunlight filters through the trees onto the steps, contrasting the temple's tranquility with the girl's sudden appearance.
