In *Flowers of Evil*, the protagonist Takao Kasuga often visits a used bookstore on a riverside street after school. The store is dim and cluttered with old books, where he borrows a poetry collection by Baudelaire—also the place where he first encounters the mysterious Sawa Nakamura.
