In *The Tatami Galaxy*, the protagonist, "Watashi", is dragged by his friend Jūgasaki to queue in front of a traditional Japanese confectionery shop with a reddish-brown wooden facade to buy Mitarashi dango. The shop has a noren curtain hanging at the entrance; it's late afternoon after school, and Watashi complains about wasting time while eating the freshly made dango.
