Rooftop of the Twin Towers
In the first episode of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a, 2B and 9S fly over a ruined city in their flight unit and finally land on the roof of two adjacent skyscrapers. The camera gazes down at desolate streets with broken bridges and overgrown ruins in the distance. These nearly identical twin towers are the protagonists' first foothold on Earth, marking the start of their mission.
