The Challenge of Byobu Rock
In *The Summit of the Gods*, the protagonist Makoto Fukamachi and the legendary mountaineer Joji Habu face a towering vertical cliff. Its surface is covered with cracks and protrusions, forming a natural barrier across the ridge that tests the climbers' skill and courage. Named for its resemblance to a giant folding screen, the rock casts dramatic shadows under the sunlight.
