In *Mieruko-chan*, the protagonist goes to the shopping district after school, keeping her head down to ignore the invisible spirits that haunt the streets. This shopping street features traditional Japanese shop signs and lanterns, with fewer people in the evening. A giant female face is plastered on a second-floor window, and a faceless woman in kimono stands silently in front of a pharmacy.
