Rice terraces and rural landscape
In *Wolf Children*, the mother Hana moves with her two children to a remote countryside. The camera frequently shows the layered rice terraces surrounding the village. In spring and summer they are lush green, in autumn golden with ripened rice, forming the backdrop for Hana's daily farming. Little Yuki runs and plays along the terraces, and Ame practices wolf jumps on the ridges.
