In *Natsume's Book of Friends*, Takashi Natsume and his cat companion Madara (Nyanko-sensei) often cross a striking red bridge. The bridge is painted vermilion, spanning a clear stream with lush rice paddies and forests on both banks. Natsume frequently pauses here to gaze at the water or converse with spirits, and wildflowers sometimes bloom on the stone steps beside the bridge.
