Island Alley
In *The Blue Island and a Cat*, the girl and her cat often stroll along this narrow stone-paved alley. On both sides are old wooden houses with vines climbing the walls and potted plants at the corners. Sunlight filters through the gaps in the eaves, casting dappled shadows. At the end of the alley, the blue sea is faintly visible. One afternoon, the girl crouches at the entrance, speaking softly to the cat as a gentle breeze lifts her hair.
