Cliff-carved Jizo Statue
In "Island of the Sea and a Cat," the protagonists walk along a stone-paved path on the island, passing a steep cliff. On the cliff face is carved an ancient Jizo statue, covered with moss, with a few coins and withered wildflowers placed in front. The girl once stopped, gazed at the statue's compassionate face, and gently touched its weather-beaten surface.
