In *Revue Starlight*, early in the first episode, the pink-haired girl Karen Aijo is seen rushing to school in the morning. After climbing an uphill path, she encounters a purple-haired girl, Hikari Kagura, at the steps of the school gate. They exchange a brief glance, and Karen is intimidated by her presence. The gate is European-style with stone pillars on both sides and a school name sign hanging above.
