Spring night along Kiyamachi Street
In *The Night Is Short, Walk on Girl*, shortly after the film opens, the heroine in a red furisode kimono walks alone along a small river path. Old wooden machiya houses line the banks, cherry blossom branches hang low over the water, and the warm glow of lanterns reflects in the babbling stream.
