In *Taisho Baseball Girls.*, the girls of the baseball team repeatedly run up a steep stone staircase to improve their stamina. The stairs are flanked by dense trees, with sunlight filtering through the leaves to create dappled shadows. Characters like Oume and Akiko are seen panting yet encouraging each other. From the top of the steps, a distant city skyline can be glimpsed, but the focus remains on the young women in Taisho-era clothing, sweating and striving together.
