In *Bakemonogatari*, the location where Koyomi Araragi and Hitagi Senjougahara have their first in-depth conversation is a multi-level outdoor staircase. At night, they stand on the stairs with the bright cityscape behind them, and Senjougahara calls Araragi "Araragi-kun." The staircase is flanked by glass-walled buildings, with light pouring from above.
