Tanabata Shrine Torii
In *The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009)*, at dusk, the girl brigade leader from Kitahigashi High School and a boy stand in front of a shrine torii gate. The girl wears a dark yukata, the boy his school uniform. They walk up the stone steps to the shrine office, where the girl takes out two tanzaku strips with wishes written on them, handing one to the boy. After hanging them, the girl gazes at the fading twilight sky with a mysterious smile.
