Fishing Tournament by the River
In *The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009)*, during the endless August loop, the SOS Brigade holds a goby fishing contest by a wide river. Haruhi is excited and energetic, while Kyon looks resigned; Yuki silently reads a book, Koizumi wears a perpetual smile, and Mikuru nervously wears a life jacket. A bridge spans the river in the background, and a few people in uniforms are seen on the embankment. The oppressive summer heat and cicada cries are almost palpable.
