Shrine Steps Where the Corpse Was Found
In "A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako's Feet", the story begins on the stone approach steps of a shrine. The heroine Sakurako crouches on the steps, carefully examining the dust and footprints, suspecting that a corpse is buried beneath them. The steps are flanked by stone lanterns and dense trees, with a red torii gate visible above. She explains her deduction to the surprised young boy Shotaro beside her.
