Ibi Bridge
In *A Silent Voice*, Shoya Ishida walks alone many times across this long bridge spanning a wide river, gazing at the distant mountains and riverbank, lost in thought. At the start of the film, he delivers a monologue here, recalling his meeting with and bullying of Shoko Nishimiya in elementary school. Later, he and Shoko walk side by side on this bridge, their shadows lengthened by the setting sun. The handrails, distant factory chimneys, and shimmering reflections on the water all form this important scene.
